If you receive a call from someone claiming that they are from the power company, saying that your payment was rejected and that you need to pay your bill over the phone right now or your electricity will be cut off, HANG UP! They say your rejected payment will be refunded to you in the form of a check or to your bank institution in 24 hours. That is how they will get your information. I yelled at them and hung up on them before I gave them any information. I called the power company to make sure the call was not from them, and sure enough, they did not make any such calls. The power company said that this is one of the new scams and they are targeting businesses, because they know that electricity is crucial to any businesses. Please let your family and friends, especially ones that own their businesses, know so they can be aware.
