If you run a small business, or are thinking of starting one, The Akron-Summit County Visitors and Convention Bureau is holding a free seminar called "Social Media- What to Say and How to Say It" that could be very good. Among the presenters are Kristie VanAuken of the Akron-Canton Airport and a rep from locally-based but globally respected Hitchcock-Fleming and Assoc., two firms that really know how to use social media effectively. The seminar will be on the 23rd of this month at the Knight Center and you can make reservations with the Bureau at 330-374-7560. (The cynic in me wonders why, with the hundreds and hundreds of government programs established to help businesses, an organization that is supposed to deal with tourism and attracting conventions to our white elephant convention center is holding the seminar, but the realist says if there is something worthwhile available from the government, we should exploit the opportunity.)
