If you saw my post last night about a blacksmith I met at the Lake Oswego Art Festival yesterday, this is a continuation. I went back today to see Lauren again. This time I took some copies of photos of my Dad that I had made today. I also took a news clipping to show her about a 6 ft.high cross that a group of blacksmiths that my Dad had taught over the years had forged for his grave in Northern California. She cried, I cried. She said she also periodically submits articles to the Northwest Blacksmith magazine. She is going to write an article about our meeting and share the photos I gave her of my dad. Before we parted, I bought one of her pieces- forged cross. Here is a photo of my Dad "pounding iron" that was taken a couple of years before he died in 1996. The second photo is of the cross I bought from Lauren today.
