If you study a martial art, I think you should know the history, - TopicsExpress

If you study a martial art, I think you should know the history, origin, meaning and details of it. In DKI, we have many many different martial arts represented. What we look for in our ranks is integration of Kyusho Jitsu and Tuite Jitsu principles, concepts and targets. The style someone studies is the delivery method. Kyusho is the targets. By applying these targets, the concepts and principles of the chosen art are revealed. Professor Dillmans style is Ryukyu Kempo USA. It is his interpretation of Ryukyu Kempo. The specialty of a Ryukyu Kempo stylist is Kyusho and Tuite because that is what the art focuses on primarily. (All diplomas issued from Dillman state rank in Art of Karate,of Okinawan Origin. No where does it state a rank in Kyusho. However, someone who studies with Dillman has knowledge of Kyusho and Tuite are they are his interpretations of his art. See photo below for an actual diploma example) Kyusho and Tuite are in ALL arts! Therefore it is NOT, contrary to some opinion, a distinct and separate art. That being said no one is truly ranked in these components of the arts. An example: a jujitsu practitioner who is in DKI is a jujitsu rank applying these components to his jujitsu to hopefully find the full meaning in jujitsu. One of the selling points of learning Kyusho and Tuite is that one does NOT abandon his art, his previous learning or devalue his prior training. He simply learns how the keys apply to the HIS art and finds where Kyusho and Tuite are hidden within his own. One common mistake is some who get ranked in DKI, for whatever reason, state that they have x rank in Kyusho, x rank in Tuite, x rank in Karate or whatever. This is not true! You are recognized as assimilating these methods or components into your learned art. This helps explain why someone with years of experience in their art of study does not have to don a white belt and spend another large number of years getting proficient in Kyusho or Tuite. It is not a separate art or style. It is a style or art enhancer. It is quite like adding a major to a college degree. One goes through set schooling up to college and then one focuses on a particular specialty. In DKI, the specialty is where Kyusho and Tuite lay.
