If you think that sharing posts on activism on Facebook is the only platform that we work, you are WRONG! If you think that we dont walk our talk, youre WRONG! If you think that ONE PERSON cant make a difference and set off a domino effect, again, you are WRONG! Im proud of my generation. Proud of the leaders. Proud of everyone who has the courage to sing about injustices and also offer peaceful resolution! Because its not enough to protest. Its not enough to talk about it. Its not enough to remain in the vibration of anger, and it definitely WILL NOT HELP to treat violence with that same kind of approach. Read this letter by a friend to the Mayor and City Commissioner!!! In todays news: We now have an audio file of a PSA to be released along with the written press release. The Mayor and the City Commission, whos members are responsible for approving ordinances, laws and resolutions have been contacted. The message is as follows: Hello Peter, My name is Kelsey Cavanagh and I am contacting you regarding a project for the community by the community called People & Police for Peace. We are seeking exposure and looking to extend invitations to all city officials, board members, and task forces. We would like to have a wide diversity of support for this event in promotion and attendance. People & Police for Peace was born in response to the recent hype surrounding negative interactions between the police force and the public. Amidst the national news, trials, protests, and unrest for justice we believe there is a need for peaceful resolution. People & Police for Peace is an opportunity for those who strive to create peace in their daily lives and for those who work towards creating a better world for us all to thrive in to come together, to show our presence, and to breathe together. With power in numbers, we are exemplifying the community in which we want to live in. A community based off of trust, honesty, compassion, positive action and selfless service. A community where all are welcome to be as they are, safely. The act of sitting in silent meditation is a display of peace and unity, welcoming all members of the community who share interest in proactive approaches to current public issues. Join us, let your voice be heard, let your presence be known. Positive change happens when we come together and breathe together. This is the first step in opening conversations which will lead to mutually beneficial reform to current public policies and operations. My request is to be on the agenda for the next board meeting to share our intention and mission statement, and personally extend the invitation for all to attend who are inspired by this vision. Please see attachments, I am including our press release, flyer, and PSA. If you have any further questions please contact me personally by email or phone. Sincerely, Kelsey Cavanagh People & Police for Peace
