If you type in dog mauling child you will find thousands of incidents. NOT all of them are from pitbulls! But of course, they dont make the news. I get it... it was a terrible accident and the family doesnt want Mickey. Ok, then let us have him! DONT KILL AN INNOCENT animal! Every group I have every come into contact with (e.g. we have rescue rabbits) have shared whether or not this animal is good with kids, good with other animals (e.g. some dogs get along with cats, some dont), has medical conditions. No one puts those dogs down. People commit horrific crimes, go to jail, snow the parole board, get released, commit more crimes and do not get put down. Why should Mickey! To the family: we are sorry for your pain and we would happily get behind your son and his bills if you would stop wasting the time of the courts and our resources to stop a horrific tragedy of justice of wanting/trying to kill Mickey! And as a side note: we just came back from the vet today with one of our two rescue pitbulls and found out he had a pellet in his leg from when he was shot living with his previous owners. Maybe I should ask the courts to put them down! No wait, we only punish the victims, not the offenders...
