If you use Ableton Live 9 and have been using it since version 6 - TopicsExpress

If you use Ableton Live 9 and have been using it since version 6 then youve probably seen no end of midi controllers pop up for the device in the last 5years. Most promising of all was the JazzMutant Lemur but the price tag meant finding a couple thousand dollars for one and that was it, one bit of hardware with no upgrades until the next one came out which meant spending the same money twice to keep up to date and to access the bug fixes. Then came the whole ipad revolution and to be honest I scoffed at it. I wasnt going to buy an ipad just because it was cool because I could see no use for it another gadget didnt already provide....then this App came out and I converted. Ive come across a few other useful apps like one to navigate photoshop and another that allows me to use it in place of my trackpad as a sort of graphic tablet. This app replaces a ton of hardware and I still cant believe it. Feels like Xmas every day! :) Not that I use the program every day but over the last year its seen some heavy use and this app has become MVP where it comes to controlling the live session section in ableton (not meant for sequence view). You can compose, arrange, arm, record, edit, automate, send fx, quantize, tweak, jog, time stretch, loop, use external vsts, midi and macro map, arpeggiate, switch seamlessly between keys, pads and clips, re-reroute audio, Eq, access the library, bpm tap, cross fade, set chances..... and thats seriously just getting started. Version 2 was a free update from V1 and I didnt think they could make it any better but they did! Highly recommended! This video is on point. Darren Perry Kwesi Gilbert Jason Harper
