If you want to hit your calves (specifically soleus) with a MAXIMUM contraction, try this version of the bent-knee calf raise. Its done on the leg curl machine and it allows you to put direct loading on the calves with the knees in full flexion...which is the absolute peak contracted position you can get on your soleus muscles. It will feel like somebody jamming knives into your calves on every rep...in a good way. I recommend this as a finishing movement, paired with a stretch exercise like donkey raises.
