If you were at Sundays 11:00 service (or even if you werent!), you might enjoy this musical reminder. Heres the history Pastor Neil shared about the composer of Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah: In the 1700s, William Williams intended to be a doctor, but one Sunday morning he heard a man preaching in a Welsh churchyard. He responded in faith, and his life was drastically changed. For 43 years he preached and sang throughout Wales, writing over 800 hymns and traveling over 90,000 miles. He became known as the poet laureate of the Welsh revival. Soon all Wales was singing their way to the coal mines and the soccer matches, and Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah became their favorite marching song. Like the hymn Williams was a pilgrim, pressing through snow, rain & heat. He was beaten by mobs, nearly dying, and cheered by crowds, but always seeking to do God’s will.
