If you were born to parents - who were born before 1970, CONGRATULATIONS because : 1. You survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they carried us/you. 2. Who took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a tin, and didnt get tested for diabetes. 3. Who didnt stress from the trauma and who had your your bright colored lead-based paint baby beds ready for your home coming. 4. There were no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets 5. When we rode your bikes, there were no helmets, not... to mention that hitchhiking wasnt illegal 6. As children, we rode in cars with no seat belts or air bags. Riding in the back truck was an adventure . 7. We drank water from the garden hose pipe and never from a bottle. 8. We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and NO ONE actually died from this. 9. We ate cakes, white bread and real butter and drank pop with sugar in it, but you werent overweight because...... WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING!! 10. We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on. No one was able to reach us all day. And you every one was ok with that. 11. We spent hours building go-carts out of scraps and then riding tem down the hill, only to find out what No brakes meant After running into the bushes a few times, yho, we learned to solve the problem . 12. We did not have Playstations, Nintendos, X-boxes, no video games at all, no 150 channels on cable (WITH NOTHING ON), no video tape movies, no surround sound, no mobile phones, no text messaging, no personal computers, no Internet or Internet chat rooms....... 13, WE hAD FRIENDS and went outside to find them! 14. We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no lawsuits from these accidents 15, We played with worms and flooded the backyard for fishing trips, made mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever - neither did the gum we swollowed. 16. We made up games with sticks and tennis balls and although we were told it would happen, no one ever poked out an eye. 17. We rode bikes or walked to a friends house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just yelled for them! 18. Local teams had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didnt had to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that!! 19. The idea of a parent bailing you out if you broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law! - Your parents generation has produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever! The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas. We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned HOW TO DEAL WITH IT ALL! And YOU my children are one of my most glorious achievements. Share this with others who have had the luck to grow up as kids, before the lawyers and the government regulated our lives for our own good. And while you are at it, forward it to your kids so they will know how brave their parents were.
