If you were not able to be at the board meeting on Tuesday night, Superintendent Andy Miller and Treasurer Kelly Moore presented information on the staffing costs and current operating costs of three elementary schools. The final slide shows the energy efficiency changes to the cost of operating three renovated elementary schools. You can find the full presentation here: bit.ly/1xKb3kk Another important fact that Treasurer Kelly Moore shared publicly is that doing nothing costs the district money. This money would come directly from the general fund. Here are needs that will need to be addressed in the near future. BV West Heating and Cooling System - $750,000 BV East Heating and Cooling System - $750,000 BV West Windows - $200,000 BV East Windows - $200,000 BV East Roof - $400,000 BV West Expanded Transportation Areas - $200,000 BV East Expanded Transportation Areas - $200,000 BV West New Cafeteria Equipment - $100,000 BV East New Cafeteria Equipment - $100,000 That is $2.9 million dollars in needed repairs. Some of these will be more immediate needs than others. But Kelly mentioned that they are nervous that the West boiler needs replaced in the very near future. The school district spent $83,541.43 at BV West alone on maintenance and repairs last year. Doing nothing depletes our general fund which is the fund that supports our teachers and our student programs.
