If you were to stand at the edge of the universe, and look inward toward the earth. Our solar system would appear so small it would be like standing on the moon trying to see a water molecule at the bottom of the ocean. The universe is so incredibly large and old and magnificent that we human beings will literally have no impact on the universe at all. All the people whove ever lived. All the people that ever will, none of us mean anything at all to someone standing at the edge of the universe. We are literally specs of dust, atoms of elements forged in the center of stars that lived billions of years before us. Our lives as interesting as they may seem, on the great scale of the universe mean nothing at all. The only thing that matters to me is my own life, and trying to understand how it came to be. All we can do is be grateful we ever had a chance at all, and try to be happy and enjoy the fraction of a moment in time that is our meaningless existence. As depressing as this understanding can be, it is also very beautiful I think. When it seems as if nothing really matters at all. You... you matter to me. The sweet things he says to me
