If youd been at Jammit Woodford tonight youd have heard the sultry tones of Narelle as she opened with a soulful rendition of “Cry me a River” accompanied by Chas Whitley on keys, Kevin Brand on bass, Alan Salmon on lead guitar and Geoff Hillier on drums. All was quiet and serene as diners partook of the tasty meals before them. Suddenly, out of nowhere, Chas belted out a feisty rendition of “Kissin Cousins” and the dance floor came alive with patrons struttin their stuff like there was no tomorrow! Then Kevin exploded into a rousing “Thats All Right Momma”. If only youd been there youd have been privy to a bevy of frenzied dancers givin it their best as that bass pumped out, enticing more and more onto the dance floor. By the time Alan cranked up the distortion to do The Kinks “You Really Got Me”, well people, let me tell you, the joint was fairly jumpin! It was just as well that at about this stage, Norm appeared, acoustic guitar in hand. Diners were able to recover their composure and return to their repast as he calmed their wildly beating hearts with the gentle strains of “Girl From Ipanema”. If youd been there you would have heard John Clark’s “Diamontina Drover”, youd have heard Geoff Jones bodhran accompaniment, Scoob giving us the “Time of Our Lives” with his “Night Moves” then Pete the Plumber “Let Go” with “Little Ol Wine Drinker Me”. Not to be missed was Mike Johns singing “Never on Sunday” whilst Jodes powerful acoustic ballads brought a hush over the audience. Andrew belted out “Paint it Black” with Peter providing some harp and vocal back-up. Kevin introduced “Little Marls” as she took us on a “Sentimental Journey” The honey tones of Steve Minhinnick as he sung “Hush, Not a Word to Mary” were soothing to the soul. Alan bedazzled em with “Sway” whilst Sue was “Lost in France” The band finished with “Runaway” but nobody wanted to. So if you werent there, thats what you missed!!! See you next time. Sue Kenny.
