If your habitat is large and youll have guests, mark out your paths and garden areas. We used orange plastic tape. If you are going to have friends visit your habitat, consider keeping doors and walkways wide enough for wheelchairs and walkers. Have a spot where people can sit. If someone will visit often who is in a wheelchair, leave a clear space for the wheelchair OUT of the walkway. It has to be frustrating to be in a wheel chair and people always bumping and pushing by you, excuse me, pardon me,. Most of the areas in our habitat/exhibit were planted. Two were left for potted plants so we could have some change of floral species and so we could have instant bloom in early spring. Dont put on the sides, if it is a large exhibit, until you are though inside. Walking through the sides is much easier than walking around to the door all the time. Of course once you put on the sides, butterflies will try to get into the exhibit to the nectar. Notice that some gardens are islands. This gives more mystery. When the plants grow, you cant see the full exhibit. It makes each side a bit different. Of course with a small habitat, islands arent possible. First photo, being planted. Second photo, same spot, after a year or two of growth.
