If youre not receiving emails from us, heres what you may be missing out on: Letter from Chair Ana Cuprill Dear Wyoming Democrats, I sit down and write to you not knowing what 2015 will bring, but confident of what we can do together to create a better future for Wyoming. In two weeks our legislature will convene again with new and renewed energy. Their numbers will include a small group of thoughtful lawmakers in both political parties and those who are not. So much is at stake this upcoming year especially for the estimated 17,600 working people in Wyoming who struggle, some of whom may die while being denied access to health care. Now more than ever it is urgent and essential that we as Democrats demand more of our elected leaders. I charge you as Democrats in the New Year to be witnesses to what is happening here in Wyoming. Witness the injustice of laws meant to deny rights and equality. Witness the folly of the “boom and bust” mentality which sacrifices our infrastructure to the fears of old men. Witness the anger which drives legislation against the working poor and those who most need a hand up, not a hand out. Be witnesses to the greed which denies worker’s their rights, their safety and benefits. Witnesses to the degradation of our air quality, water quality, and wildlife in exchange for the almighty dollar. BE A WITNESS AND SPEAK UP. I also charge you to be witnesses to the good work that is being done in your communities. Witness those who are feeding the hungry, clothing the poor, fighting for the rights of immigrants, seeking justice on behalf of children, and the sick. Witness our legislators who champion the right of workers to earn a living wage and be safe in their workplace. Witness those who have so little extend a hand in help, and those who have much and do not bask in their own glory but reach out also as partners and philanthropists to our causes. Witness the hope and change you bring to your family, friends, and community even when it feels like you can’t do more, you’ve given all you’ve got and you just can’t see that light at the end of the tunnel. BE A WITNESS, AND DON’T GIVE UP. Our work as Democrats is not easy or convenient. We are a courageous group of people doing courageous things. We are the people standing up when others sit down. We are the people speaking up when others are silent.
