If youre not wanting to read something kinda heavy, skip this and go to my funny post about taking a nap. :-) I laugh and smile a LOT, and I assure you its natural for me. I LOVE to feel life!!! But there is another side to this coin... depression and anxiety are no stranger to me - fighting it continually and slipping into it, succumbing more than once. These struggles and fights are my own - just as Robin Williams had his own, just as that person you know who committed suicide had his or her own. Passing judgment or assuming from a religious perspective is futile. Faith is not magic fairy dust that makes it go away. But for me, faith is what has given me clarity and strength to seek help and fight back. Fight like a girl. When I want to hide from everything and just shut my brain up, its faith that waits like a pilot light. Its dark and cold, but that tiny sliver of light helps me reach out, and to accept love offered. It opens my heart to healing sunshine. Love is so very powerful and prevails as the greatest of all. May we all open our hearts to find peace. And to offer patience and grace to those around us. Let your light shine - and accept others light when yours is dim! Seriously... read this quote... enlightening... The most eloquent description Ive seen about depression and suicide... Its helped me understand and up my compassionate game... _______________________ That — depression is like a room engulfed in flames and you can’t breathe for the sooty smoke smothering you limp — and suicide is deciding there is no way but to jump straight out of the burning building. That when the unseen scorch on the inside finally sears intolerably hot – you think a desperate lunge from the flames and the land of the living seems the lesser of two unbearables. That’s what you’re thinking — that if you’d do yourself in, you’d be doing everyone a favor. ~ Ann Voskamp
