Its happening all over the place - and there are reasons - check this out: ................................... .........A New Jersey conservative group hopes to convince voters to reject a statewide ballot measure to dedicate existing tax revenues for open space and farmland preservation. The New Jersey chapter of Americans for Prosperity launched its opposition campaign Monday. The group plans to spend $60,000 on four radio spots, along with undisclosed amounts on newspaper and social media advertisements. … Besides Americans for Prosperity, Gov. Chris Christie has spoken against the open space measure, arguing that it was inappropriate for the Democratic-controlled Legislature to put the measure on the ballot to dedicate tax revenue and limit budget flexibility. Gordon MacInnes, a former state lawmaker and president of the liberal think tank New Jersey Policy Perspective, also is against the proposal, claiming it would be more fiscally responsible to borrow a lump sum for preservation programs, as the state has done for the last five decades. “Legislators from both parties are betting that no one will notice if, after 2019, a measly $50 million is diverted each year from needs like providing tuition assistance to college students or caring for the severely disabled and used instead to preserve open space,” MacInnes wrote in an op-ed published earlier this month by the Asbury Park Press. “The number looks relatively small, but it continues an irresponsible trend of making less money available for essential expenses.”
