If youre serious about building a movement, first and foremost: see yourself. See your strengths, see your contradictions, see your ying, see your yang. See the child behind your years. See what you refuse to see about yourself. See your experiences, the knowledge they gave you, the gifts youve been given. And know ultimately what they have been given to you for. There is a spirit in the community that seeks to be seen, seeks to be praised and exalted for her works--and will destroy all vestige of hope in her path that does not feed her weakened ego. That spirit must die for hope to live. We need to get out of our ego for community to evolve. Love yourself, know yourself, but know always that its not about you. Its about humbling ourselves to the wisdom and purpose Life has given EACH of us, and growing from it all. When we stop growing, we stop living. If you cannot acknowledge that, in my eyes you are an agent, sent either politically or spiritually to thwart progress. There is the potential for that spirit within each of us, the ego. Let it go. Dead it. It has no place in a movement. Replace it with loyalty to your people. Practice that. And keep it moving. Know also that there is a difference between a senior and an elder, a supporter and an observer, words and action. With that said, the first One Love think tank was a wonderful growing experience. And we will become even more militant about who comes in. If youre serious about building a movement, you build it. We dont need extras, we dont need divas, we need leaders. And a leader above all knows s/he is a servant. Thank you, and see you at the One Love Herues Award Ceremony in January. One Love is not a self-serving organization. Nor is it one founded on hate mongering. It is coalition building, nation building U N I T Y. It is alliance with those that are down for and with us. Thank you to EVERYONE who came out, put our egos aside, shared, and built with us, for us. We will become even stronger. And impactful. We are not moved by the distractions, when we know who we are.
