If youve been following the news for the past few weeks, youll know that a certain group that does not deserved to be mentioned has infiltrated and taken over the Kurdish town of Kobani. For those that know me well, youd know that I have visited this town twice in my life as it is the home town of both my parents. Honestly, I never thought I would see the day that such a quiet town that barely anyone had heard of would take the world by storm. Since all of this has begun, our relatives have had to flee their homes and cross the Turkish border where they now sit as refugees. My grandfather stayed back to defend his land, his town, and his home. Unfortunately, due to the growing forces and incoming airstrikes from military forces, he has had to leave too leaving everything behind. We have a strong and proud family history inside Kurdistan, and now all of that is gone. Sitting on the border watching your home being destroyed day by day is not something anyone should have to go through. Posting this status isnt going to do much (or anything for that matter) with the situation overseas, but your religious beliefs do not justify whatever heinous act you are committing. It just makes you a coward.
