If youve been the drive-in lately, you may have noticed some of the improvements to the grounds and the parking areas. Some of the improvements were planned, such as the landscaping, 200 tons of fresh gravel in the parking lots, and new traffic signals at the ticket office, and some were unplanned, such as the new marquee, due to an early morning traffic accident last fall. Some improvements are behind the scenes, such as the new pizza oven and new fryers which will help improve our customer service by getting orders out of the kitchen faster. Some improvements are already contracted, and on the way, such as over 1,000 feet of drain tile being installed later this month to replace older, broken drain tiles and keep the parking lots dry after a heavy rain. Other improvements that weve made since last fall include new digital-to-analog sound processors on all four screens, along with uninterruptible power supplies for the projection equipment to protect the presentation from momentary lapses in power delivery and brownouts. Were also in the process of repairing and replacing steel I-beams on the giant screen towers, which will be followed by a complete paint job from top to bottom. Repairing and replacing structural steel will ensure the long-term stability of the screens, and help prevent any down-time due to storm damage. There are still more improvements on the way which were keeping under wraps for surprises later in the season. We think people will be please with what weve done so far, and what weve got on the way.
