If youve been wondering where Ive been, I was sucked into a genealogical vortex of epic proportions through Ancestry! I have found more family members (maternal and paternal) in the past 4 days than the PBS History Detectives! Im still trying to solve the mystery of who my maternal/maternal great, great grandfather is/was! Here are a couple of neat photos I found of (left) my greatx3 grandmother, Mariah Lodusky Barber Gurley Newton Youngblood and her mother, my greatx4 grandmother, Susan Lee Gibbs, from Stonefort, Saline County, Illinois. Her maiden name was Barber, but thats still a lot of husbands! On the right, are my (presumed) great great grand uncle and aunt, James Osburn and Mary Bulle Osburn! How about that for some hillbillies from Kentucky? So now we know why I have a soft spot in my heart for country music! If you have any interest AT ALL in genealogy, I encourage you to take a week vacation from your job, your housework, your workouts, your meals, your sleep, your Facebook and everything else in your life and do the Ancestry 2 week trial! Its amazing--even if the research does have its limits and I still cant find my real great great grandpaw!
