If youve downloaded the Telegram chat app simply because its Indian then youve been conned. Its made by Russians and based in Germany Prime Minister Narendra Modi could not have imagined how his slogan Make in India, would be put to use. Even before any manufacturing inspired by it began, a Russian mobile app has used it to jump to the top of the most downloaded list on Android platforms in India. While the WhatsApp Goliath continues to be the most popular messenger app, a similar Russian app, called Telegram, has almost done a David by riding on the Modi wave. Mohan Chabria, a businessman in Bengaluru was witness to this phenomenon. He said, Until about a month ago, I would get maybe one message or request to download and use Telegram. But in the last one month, it seems almost everyone on my phone book has jumped ship from WhatsApp and joined Telegram. The messages were misleading, claiming the new app was Indian. But many people seems to have fallen for the trick. The messages asking people to delete WhatsApp and install the Indian Telegram was ironically shared mostly on WhatsApp! The message read: DELETE WHATSAPP. Today our PM Modiji spoke a slogan of Made In India. Come lets start with using TELEGRAM an Indian app instead of using the American app WhatsApp. It is the first Indian social media app. Think about it...Even the Chinese have refused WhatsApp and adopted the Made in China WeChat, when are we going to start? Use WhatsApp for one year and stop it! Its one year cost is 56 Rupees, and In India there are 20 crore Indians.
