If youve ever wondered what happened to the old Bibb Graves High - TopicsExpress

If youve ever wondered what happened to the old Bibb Graves High School Building, heres some info from Ray Camp of the BGHS Association: I would like to challenge each class president to, in turn, challenge his or her class to step up to help renovate the old school in order for it to become a Community Center for use by many people in the future. We have raised money and have had money and materials donated to the cause. We have worked hard and much has been accomplished. For instance, the roof on the high school building is about three-fourths complete; the elementary building, the annex between the high and elementary schools, and rooms adjacent to the cafeteria have been rewired. Over 230 windows and glass doors have been replaced; tile floors have been removed; and rooms have been painted. We have eleven rooms being used as businesses, selling various antiques and other items. The Millerville Water Authority has rented office space. The Clay County Sheriff, Ray Latham, has established a satellite office in the complex. A pastor rents a room for services. The building between the two schools can be rented for reunions and other events for $50 per day. The complex has a kitchen, a meeting room, and a dining area. A group of some 52 military veterans are organizing in order to help other veterans such as the Wounded Warriors, to help returning veterans to assimilate into society, and other projects. We have provided a large room free of charge and with access to the cafeteria once it is renovated. They have already painted and cleaned this room. We are very excited about this organization! We have a luncheon for anyone who would like to attend at 11:00 AM on the first Wednesday of each month. Just bring a covered dish. Our monthly business meeting is the second Monday of the month. A Trade Day is held on the third Saturday of the month from 7:00 AM - 12:00 PM. Vendors are welcome to set up for a $10 fee. Bingo is held on the fourth Saturday night of the month with food at 6:00 PM and the game beginning at approximately 6:30 PM. We have some great prizes! Each game costs fifty cents. (Great family fun!) This post is becoming too lengthy; therefore, to sum up --- we need help for heat/air, wiring, and work on the cafeteria, the auditorium, the gymnasium, and the septic system. We believe this center will be a great place for singings, reunions, plays, senior citizen center, tutoring, archives, veterans organization, athletic events, club meetings, etc. Thank you for your consideration.
