If youve ever wondered why homeless guys hug so much its because its usually all they have to give. This story is spot on! Ive seen this happen over and over again. One Christmas, Danny Pipkins and I set out to deliver blankets and sleeping bags to a couple of homeless guys hed met the night before. We were looking for a character name Buster. It took us a while and we eventually found him but not before visiting with a few others. The most memorable, for me, was a gentleman living out of his truck with his dog, Rex. We offered him a blanket and asked if he had enough to eat. He was quick to thank us and then decline because he had all he needed but ... he gave us directions to find a few others that he was concerned about who didnt have blankets and needed food. Its quite a culture and its the reason Ive often said that homeless is a bad description of the problem. These folks have made homes and communities with one another. They are simply houseless and its rare to meet a houseless man or woman who doesnt look out for others. Homeless people are people and most are very caring and generous people. Can we say the same of ourselves?
