If you’re an Android user and just downloaded the new Instant - TopicsExpress

If you’re an Android user and just downloaded the new Instant Messenger app for Facebook, you might want to delete it ASAP. Facebook has been pushing users to download the new app for over the past week now because it is getting rid of the feature in its regular application. That’s not particularly controversial. What’s controversial is the Messenger’s user agreement, which gives Facebook the right to make calls without the user’s knowledge, take pictures, and record audio and video at any time. The app also reserves the right to scroll through users’ contacts and call logs, as well as glean personal information stored on the mobile devices including data stored in other apps. When asked about the liberal user agreement, Facebook said it had to comply with Google’s standards, requiring it to issue such a comprehensive privacy violating agreement. Although this has not been verified by Google, Facebook said it did not have to distribute a similar user agreement for iOS users. Whether Facebook or Google will actually access any of the items included in the user agreement is unknown, however, with all the information that has come to light concerning tech company’s collusion with the NSA to spy on U.S. Citizens, if I had an Android, my first move would be to DELETE, DELETE, DELETE! Protect your privacy NOW and get rid of Facebook IM!
