Ignite Your Core to Stay on Course! As we step into a new week, on our path to bigger and better health, its important to be prepared for things which will take us of course. Remember that change is a constant, and our ability to flow with it will define the rate at which we succeed. This week, lets challenge ourselves to a. stay centered despite outside factors, and b. in training, keep it simple. By truly tapping into the power of the core muscles, as a warm-up or even as an entire focus (for a workout), youre working on the fundamentals of building true strength. Have you even seen a seemingly muscular, good-sized person who when you put them on a stability ball, is actually pretty weak? This is because bigger muscles does not necessarily translate to better or stronger muscles. There are many tiny muscles in between muscle fibers, and located around organs, that most people have not truly learned to tap into. Trying new exercises such as Pilate, yoga and using your own body weight as resistance are to name a few. With weights, choose simple exercises such as squats, push-ups and pull-ups incorporating the use of the ball, and feel the core quake! Your am quiz asks: Which of the following statements is not true about the Core? a. The core is involved in every moment we make. b. The core works your smaller and bigger muscles. c. The core is comprised of your body minus your arms and legs. d. Core work is difficult so should not be attempted by everyone. e. Everyone can tap into their core, thus should do core work. Remember trainers, to keep it fun, functional and especially this week, simple. Activate the core first, then move into doing fancier stuff later. See you later this week for more on how to deal with Obstacles, finding the perfect Pull-Up, and of course great nutrition tips. Happy Monday!
