Ikea. On a Sunday. Only my great great love for my only child could compel such a journey fraught with so much peril. IKEA.ON.A.SUNDAY. After our last venture into the occupied territory ended with such crushing disappointment... we started at the exit to indeed verify the ice cream machine status... it was working... operation search and retrieve kallax bookcase was a go... we formed our offensive position and set off with our ninja like reflexes accompanied by the utter silence our ikea shopping cart. We moved with such stealth I am completely confident that we could sneak past Seal Team 3 if they were conducting urban training in Ikea... complete confidence..maybe not Seal Team 6... but 3 for sure.. We had to go upstairs to the bookcase section so we could have complete confirmation of the target and then we proceeded to the marketplace or the free range ikea products section as I like to call it. Selected our bookcase and were headed to the check out - when I realized that I needed to look at the curtains. Operation leader Mike Di Leo could read the escalating panic and suggested that he would check out with the object of the mission and get to the car and then we could search and recon the textiles un-tethered by our cart for a quick exit if need be... while he checked out anna grace and I decided that a mid session treat would fortify us for the rest of the journey. Ice Cream for her and Cinnamon bun for me. It was a well played move by Anna Grace Di Leoit gave us just enough of a sugar rush to think that we could quickly get in and get out of ikea... We mapped out our route to the textiles section looked at the curtains and then tried to exit. We realized we were exactly halfway through the maze... tamping down the panic we turned right and proceeded to channel our inner salmon and swim upstream... through the housewares and dishes and with the play are a in sight we burst out of the entrance doors and straight into the Texas heat and loving every minute of our sweet sweet freedom. I almost kissed the pavement.Almost. And just so you know the cinnamon bun was a good treat, but Im not sure it could be the driving force to guide us home... but for sure more than a meatball ever could.
