Il Canale, georgetown is twice in the news again. Washingtonian magazine featured il Canale in its June (2014) issue on terrific pizza.The Washington Post magazine mentioned il Canale in its cover story (June 15, 2014) on Washington lawyer Cate Edwards. In its article on il Canale, the Washingtonian magazine said: “The crusts are almost perfect balance of chewy and crispy, and the wood-burning oven lends them an irresistible smoky perfume. In the Neapolitan fashion, you should expect a certain wetness at the center. Fold the flap back, and–in the case of the excellent La Regina—enjoy the blend of creamy disks of buffalo mozzarella and tender prosciutto di Parma. Pizzerias, by nature, are designed for quick and efficient meals, but plan on making a night of it here: The views of the C&O Canal in Georgetown are downright romantic.” The Washington Post magazine noted that two of il Canale’s diners are Princeton- and Harvard- Law-educated attorney Cate Edwards and husband Trevor Upham. They live in Georgetown. She is daughter of former presidential candidate John Edwards. Trevor is a surgical resident at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. “She and Trevor have Luca, an Italian water dog and a Vespa. “At dinner at il Canale in Georgetown, they are a fun couple,” says the Post.
