Ill admit, I dont agree with Christie or his party often, but I do find him refreshingly blunt. Ill weigh in...this woman is a NURSE, someone who had: 1. Been in west Africa 2. Was returning from ACTIVELY TREATING patients with this disease, one which we are still trying to nail down regarding transmission and containment 3. Was found to have a slightly elevated temperature at the airport (I was flustered?) Now...she is smart enough to KNOW that, given what transpired in Texas, the failures of the CDC, and the public outcry over the nurse who was allowed to fly with a low grade fever but no symptoms and DID have ebola, the best option is a brief quarantine, to ask more questions, to see if symptoms develop or to wait for tests to come back. Once that is done, you are free to do your own thing, which I would HOPE that, as a responsible and intelligent provider of healthcare, would include a voluntary curtailing of your movements for the next 3 weeks. This was not some punitive stripping of her freedom or overreaching or panic. It was simply erring on the side of caution. As far as Christie goes, Im okay on this one. Can you IMAGINE the outrage he would have endured from everyone, including the medical community, if this lady was not flagged and DID have this virus???
