Ill admit it. I love baiting Mahatma Gandhi. There is so much to question about the guy. I even question if Gandhi/INC really had anything much to do with the independence of India. We all know Britain was shattered after WW2. Gandhi/INC/Nehru did have quite a hand in not keeping India united. They let the partition happen. For all his ills (IMHO), you have to hand it to the man for totally knowing the Indian public. I mean, he really really understood Indians. No one after him has come close (at least in the public sphere). One of his greatest concepts that, unfortunately, remained only a concept, was that of ग्राम स्वराज। Dhanada handed me a copy of Swaraj by Arvind Kejriwal when AAP was launched. I never read it. The loss is entirely mine. AAP has completely lifted the idea of Swaraj from Gandhi. And Im happy for it. I read somewhere recently that the greatest ideas in the world arent necessarily original (for example, cloud = mainframe, only fuzzier). AAP talks of making मोहल्ला सभाs across Delhi. These सभाs will have a say in a variety of things, like where should new streetlights be installed, etc. They will work with the government by informing them which streetlights, traffic signals, sewage pipes and water pipes are not working. And they will monitor the performance of local schools and hospitals. Local Self Government, of the people, for the people, by the people, is finally coming to India.
