Ill be the first one to admit that I know absolutely nothing about fashion, as my former colleagues would happily testify. But why are fashion designers treated with the same regard as medical researchers and scientists? I know that a silk tie looks better than a polyester tie, and that a cotton shirt is more comfortable than a shirt made from some petroleum by-product. But is a black and red striped silk tie made by DKNY or Calvin Klein really inherently superior to a black and red striped silk tie with no fancy-schmancy label on it? All that these designers really do is recycle twenty year old ideas anyway. My dusty tie rack can attest to that....
