Ill be walking through customs and picking up my luggage around this time next week. I was feeling really excited about going home, but I dont feel that way anymore. I feel nervous. Ive been away for over a year. Will the people and places I remember still be there? Will those people still like me for who I am, even though Ive changed so much? Will I adjust back into American culture without any problems? I think I have this idea of what my life in America should be like, but I dont think it will reach those expectations. I think Ill feel bored and unchallenged. I dont think Ill fit into the normal lifestyle. I have no doubt that Ill experience reverse culture shock. The amount of spoken English will probably confuse me. The prices of things will probably shock me. The fast pace of life will probably overwhelm me. I wish I knew what I was coming home to. I wish I was more excited to be going home.
