Ill give UKIP credit, their taxation and benefit policies are a good (but expensive) right/left mix, but they are a product of political posturing and focus groups rather than a clear ideology. I want to focus on the obvious target of foreign aid though, its not obvious because foreign aid is a tiny fraction of our total spending and there are international obligations at stake if we drop it. It also begs the question of how much Israel get in foreign aid under UKIP - more, or less? Id also like to point out that every responsible government takes climate change seriously even if they are wracked by short-termism, UKIP seems to be ignoring scientific consensus on this in favour of populism, Ill remember that when communities flooded by the Atlantic Ocean coming as far as the south west of England vote UKIP next year. As it is these policies will prove popular, but uncosted and dangerous, even I am attracted to the idea of a 2 tier job seekers allowance although it sounds a bit like the beginning of American style time limited unemployment checks.
