Ill give you one guess where I stand on this piece of proposed lunacy from the U.S. Forest Service to fine editorial and commercial photographers $1000 if they are caught taking pictures in the wilderness without a $1500 permit. Apparently someone over there slept through their history classes when the 1st Amendment was being introduced. I think the biggest irony for me is that they control one of my favorite places on this planet, the Ansel Adams Wilderness. It was named for a man who used photographs to help educate the public on the value of wilderness and our wild places. If the new rules were to be enforced and Ansel was still alive today, he would be facing $1000 per incident he was caught photographing without the $1500 permit he was supposed to pick up in a place that he (and photography) literally defined.
