Ill never forget the day I saw David Baird for the first time - or at least I noticed him (he was 12 and I was 5). He was one of the most amazing Bible quiz participants I had ever seen. He could quote book after book of the New Testament and was as competitive as all get out. Its one of the things I loved watching most at the competitions and STILL love that competitive streak in him. He continues to amaze me not just with his memory (though it is quite extraordinary and mine less than ordinary), but with his love for Gods Word and speaking it to us in ways that we apply to our everyday lives. Ive watched over the years as he has lived life with the many we have pastored. His heart hasnt shrunk at all toward people and his call in life, but enlarged to include the many he so loves and desires to see knowing and growing in their relationship with God. I dont know how he does it all. Ive never quite wrapped my head around his incredible capacity to be a husband, a father, a pastor, a friend, a mentor, a coach, and the myriad of other hats he wears. He is one of the kindest, most tenderhearted people I know, yet he is strong in opinion and doesnt mince words. He can be more productive in a day than an entire office - and without sleep. Ive been absolutely blessed to be by his side for going on 29 years and it has been the ride of my life. Wouldnt have wanted to do this journey with anyone else in the whole world. The car is getting classier, the ride a lot smoother, and the extras are eternal. I love you, David Baird, and celebrate the day you were born. Your Mom and Dad are smiling down on you today and I just want to say to you from them and all of us...HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! YOU ARE LOVED!! Josh BairdJordan BairdJustin Baird
