Ill never forget the day that I came out--at least to myself. The date was June 10, 1984. Two of my sisters (Brenda and Jackie), my cousin Pee-Wee (Michael Harris) and another person were sitting on or front porch talking. I, being the flirt that I was, decided to put on a fashion show for the people sitting on the porch. For me, it really was a ruse to get the attention of the most beautiful person I had ever seen at that point in my life. Her name was Tomisha. When my sisters introduced me to Tomisha, almost immediately, I was in love. Not really knowing if she was a guy or a girl, I found myself wanting to know more about this person. It was not until the next day that I realized that Tomisha was really Tom. He was very androgynous yet seemed to possess a perfect balance of femininity and masculinity. Despite the fact that Tomisha was a man, I was so smitten that the gender of my amore did not matter to me. I feel in love hard and I feel in love fast, and for six months, Tomisha was my everything. Like a cliche, I can say that he was my first love. To this very day, I find myself wondering how he is doing. In an essence, that is my coming out story. Whats your coming out story?
