Ill try it again...seriously, as i was posting my rant about a certain asian country, my kindle keyboard went into a different language, simplified chinese. (Though I was posting about North Korea) anyway, at the risk of being hacked again, heres my two cents worth... Some might argue, but i have a pretty good sense of humor...my taste runs more along the lines of bob newhart, jerry Seinfeld,robin williams, rather than jim Carrey...more nuanced, less in your face. That said, one of my favorite movies was the madcap its a mad, mad mad world, and i also enjoyed coming to america with Eddie Murphy. I think theres humor in exploring others cultures (see the Gods must be crazy, or even the rather offensive Borat movies) That all said, where do we draw the line? I remeber years ago when sinead oconnor went on snl and tore up a pic of then pope john paul ii... that wasnt meant as humor, and it rightfully drew the collective gasp of many. So now, a stoner and a third rate actor do a comedy about an assassination on the comical, albeit dangerous dictator of one of the worlds most isolated countries, and the whole thing is causing mucho angst between us and them My recommendation...boycott sony, boycott the two actors...theyve crossed the line from humor (ie pix of the dictator looking like easter peeps, or sending Rodman as envoy) to being offensive... i understand we have freedoms and rights, but those should come with responsibility...sony and the actors have not shown that rsponsibilty, nor any talent
