Illinois DNR stocked the Apple River at Apple River Canyon State - TopicsExpress

Illinois DNR stocked the Apple River at Apple River Canyon State Park with a hybrid rainbow trout. Albino trout, the park ranger called them. I like golden trout better. Neither of the two fly fishermen who were catching and releasing caught this variety that day. But the silvers and rainbows were very cooperative. One bald eagle approached about a quarter mile away, but the only fowl interested in fishing were a pair of great blue herons. My friend and fellow photographer, Roger Dorneden, showed some of his recent photos to a couple of interested fishermen. The rugged upper bluff tail provided some overdue exercise.
