Illustrations of vague-fiction Theoretical quantum physics I - TopicsExpress

Illustrations of vague-fiction Theoretical quantum physics I know relatively nothing about this subject. Quantum physics is way beyond my intellect. In fact thats my point really, that a lot of what I perceive as facts are related to status. It can range from an expert in a field, someone reputable like a celebrity or political leader or someone I trust like a parent (they told me santa is and isnt real after all). The only thing I do know about string theory, black holes and worm holes is that the information we have about them is limited and restricted. There is no way to prove them even if there mathematical proofs are identical to the patterns they have recorded. So far they are mere simulation but they could be real. From what Ive read, dark matter appears to compensate for miscalculations of measuring our universe. This is probably wrong but it highlights my point that it seems to be no different to the origins of Ether or Alchemy. This is quoted from an article by author Elizebeth Sherman about Jim Gates; a physicist who specialises in string theory; Gates Jr.’s love of science blossomed the way many mine did, and I can imagine, many other people’s does. At age four, he went to see a sci-fi movie with his mother, complete with space suits and aliens. It was his imagination that led him to the scientific world. Is it common for scientists to yearn for fiction to be fact, are they essentially no different to science-fiction writers ? A lot certainly attempt to make them more conceivable (an except from the same article) ; He compares himself to a story teller: A writer has characters that make up a narrative, but so does a mathematician, only his characters are numbers. The act of creation is the same. Science isnt maths. Maths is made factual via an unarguable proof. Science is concluded via finite tests; it isnt fact, we dont know if in every context a test will have the same result. In science a fragile theory is made from these results and further theories are built on those and so on producing science as we know it; a house of cards. How is this different to science-fiction, where theories are also comprised from finite observation? It can be just as effective, i pads, battleships, robots e.t.c have materialised through its theories via fluke too, just like science. tor/blogs/2013/03/jim-gates-on-string-theory-and-sci-fi
