Im SUCH a lucky man!!!!!!!!!! Mon gorgeous, brilliant, talented, intellectual, FUNNY, Über-MAGNIFICENT, Cousine Adina is in town for the holidays, and, per usual, she brings LOADS of TRUE South Louisiana/New Orleans-style cooking WITH HER, and does deliveries to all of our family homes here up in north Louisiana!!!! Once. Per. YEAR!!!!!! She has dutifully saved, and, FAITHFULLY, recreated, the family recipes of her Great-Grand-, and Grandmother, keeping them alive for present generations of our family!!!! Who KNOWS just how far back these dishes go in history!? This, right here, is REAL DEAL Louisiana cuisine, Cher! The woman in the video is NOT my cousin! But Im sharing her video, because these two dishes are what my Cousine graced us with--- in addition to a GALLON of her Grandmothers GUMBO (Chicken, Andouille sausage, jumbo crab, and MORE!) !! If I would have just said, my cousin brought us stuffed peppers, and Mirliton [MILLI-tahn] Dressing, i dont have any IDEA what you would have imagined!! I LOVE the Mirliton dish, because they grow ABUNDANTLY in this state, and have, for generations, sustained the lives of centuries of residents! Its an historic, heirloom, vegetable which sustained life! I have no idea if Miss Sheila Roses recipe is the same as my cousins, but it gives you an idea of the historic culinary foundations of the dishes! Miss Sheila uses ham, where my cousin uses Andouille sausage... for example. I AAAAAAAAAAAAALSO ADOOOORE Miss Sheilas Opelousas, Louisiana ACCENT in the video!!!!! It TOOK me a minute to grasp PORE-burrrrl, and BURRRL--- and I couldnt eat anything prepared in her kitchen (Teflon coating poisoning, and #theedgeofasinkisNOTasterilecuttingSURFACE!!!!) (bless her heart), but she is making the REAL stuff born of this region of the state--- for centuries! I have now added them to my repertoire, and hope to actually prepare the dishes myself, soon!
