Im a bit in shock this morning. I shouldnt be, but I am. As the reality of yet another battle, this time with MD Anderson sets in, I am reminded (and to some degree in awe) by the outpouring of love and generosity from so many amazing people in this world. Two fund raisers were set up to assist my family and I. You can see the gofundme account at gofundme, search Robert Baxter. This requires a credit card for donations. Thanks to Stephanie Bailey for setting up this account! For those who dont like to give out information on the internet (credit cards, etc), you can donate through Brenda Hockaday into a Wells Fargo account. Contact Brenda, and she will provide you with the account number. No, you cannot withdraw funds (sorry!), but you can deposit by walking into any wells fargo bank and making a deposit. Or you can send her the money in a check or a cashiers check and she will make the deposit. When I spoke with the lady at MD Anderson, she claimed to be quite knowledgable about Burkitts and said Sanale MD would be my physician, widely considered of the experts in aggressive treatment and stem cell transplantation for Burkitts. What is upsetting for me is that she said the first appointment available is August 4th. Ummmmmmmmmm, (thats a lot of ms), I told her I would probably be dead by then. She acted goofy, but shouldnt have. Burkitts is way too aggressive (fast spreading). At any rate, going to start today by contacting my local oncologist and ask her if she knows any tricks to expedite the process with MD Anderson. As far as the good news this morning, this offsets any discouraging news, is the love and support I continue to receive from you all. Just stunning to say the least. I am very touched by the kind words, private messages, and offers to call. I apologize for not calling you all, my life has gotten a bit chaotic right now with family in town and trying to teach my wife and daughter how to do bills, get some rest (getting increasingly tired each day), and so forth. Want to hear the amounts raised so far? the gofundme account at this moment has $3,455 dollars. The Wells Fargo account has $2,870 dollars. I am so touched and overwhelmed by your support. I feel bad to say keep it coming, but Ill lower my pride a bit to say keep it coming! This is going to be over 1 year out of work on disability (40% paycut). Ive got perfect credit right now and have prided myself on self sufficiency and hard work since I was old enough to scoop ice cream at Baskin Robbins. Thank you all so much for your support! Dont forget, when the gofundme account hits $4,000 (could that be today?), Im going to post a rather funny pic of my mom fixing her hair. She gave me permission, which surprised me. I might just have to humiliate myself a bit and share a rather embarrassing picture of my when I was 18, I think. More details to come. It is indeed embarrassing and will split your sides open with laughter.
