Im a huge believer in the free market, but also believe national tariffs are sometime appropriate. Can someone please explain to me why there the USA does not put a tariff on foreign oil, especially from Islamic nations that funnel it to terrorists? We could level the playing field for our domestic producers and continue the economic boom coming from the shale plays here in the states and at the same time get significant tax revenues to offset our ridiculous debt. Im genuinely asking someone to set me straight on why this is not a good policy decision and please tell me if any Member of Congress is proposing such a course of action.
