Im a little intimidated to say it but I dont agree with this petition. I think the comedians on those news segments do extensions of material and characters developed in their stand up routines and from what I understand this is Jones MO --this kind of rough style comedy thats sort of shocking. But I understand why people would be upset by it. I didnt love the sketch but I thought it was okay fairly funny not hysterical but it didnt bother me. I had more concerns about the opening sketch about Sterling. And of course there was the Beyoncé piece which I thought was hysterical! But within the context of Saturday Night Lives very poor showing with black people and especially black women --and racial and ethnic diversity generally I can understand why the sketch offended viewers but I dont think the solution is to shut down Leslie Jones. It seems a little like shooting the messenger. It makes me think of some of the comedy from Sarah Silverman which really goes to a very dicey edge In the way the humor uses the body of the comedienne in a way thats uncomfortable.
