Im a reformed Perfectionist . or well umm still in recovery/rehabilitation process. meaning that I fight I daily , the want / need for perfection and to b perfect . I actually have to talk myself down or out of some feelings associated with "perfectionism " today I laugh at myself and what would be on my list for a "ten step program " any additional suggestions are welcome ! 1. Some things you just have to say "LET IT GO" ! ( I need this tattooed some where ) 2. In the strive for perfectionist , excellence shall occur and or its about " progress NOT perfection 3 Instead of beating yourself up about whatever is not perfect , what can you do or learn to make it better next time . ? 4. Life can be imperfectly perfect . depending on your perspective embracing imperfections and change will take you farther . 5. Less Judgment on others and yourself . eases the pain . judging increases 6. ASK For HELP ! it is just as good to receive and accept as it is to give it (this is probably my biggest challenge ) 7. If there is an issue you just " cant get over " (even tho you really can ) , make a change that focuses on your Strengths it will fulfill 8. Self assessment . where are these feeling coming from ? breakdown revise and renew 9. Breathe and repeat ALL previous steps 10 . Step by step , day by day ... The rule to every successful recovery program !
