Im about sick and tired of people moaning about page reach, moaning that Facebook is ripping them off. Time for a little understanding, I think. There are two reasons why Facebook does what it does with advertising. One, fans have liked so many things over the years that they have to stem the flow of content on the feed, otherwise nothing relevant will appear to users. They grade posts based on relevance to the user, and different media types and different content will obviously get different levels of engagement from users. As you make each post, it sends it to a random amount of your followers, and pushes it into their feeds. Based on how they react to your post, they either push it to more, or kill it dead if it hasnt been engaged with. Secondly, Facebook advertising is effective. You just have to be doing it right, not using Boost Post, and be doing it through the Ads Manager and using similar audiences to garner more fans that are like the ones you already have. In terms of Cost Per Acquisition of customer and the ticket value of whatever youre selling, the money you spend on Facebook advertising can be considerably less than the value you get from using the Ads Manager correctly. Facebook is a business, it needs to generate revenue, otherwise you dont have a service. It has to generate revenue through advertising, or charge its users. Its not going to do the second, so you have to live with the first. You can either learn to use the tools they give you, and invest money in PPC advertising, or find another platform.
