Im actually in shock and kind of want to cry after seeing this. Let me be really clear; RAPE IS NEVER OK. It is never justified. It is never encouraged. There are no validations for it. Im going to share a really, really personal story for a moment. Because I feel that this story really encompasses how I feel about this topic and because this topic really is this important. A friend of mine and I hooked up at a party. We were in the middle of intercourse when she suddenly went rigid. I asked if she was okay, and she shook her head. I immediately slid to her side and she edged to the side of the bed. I put a blanket over her shoulders and waited on my side of the bed until she was ready to talk. It turned out shed felt guilty about her boyfriend. (For the record, I thought they had split up.) Whatever. The reasoning isnt important. It wasnt important that we were in the middle of the act of intercourse. It didnt matter that I had a few drinks in me. What is important is that when she was no longer comfortable, and the show was over. Thats all I needed to know, and all the explanation I was really owed. We talked. Hugged. And later on dated. Were still good friends to this day. If, as a guy, any part of my story bothers you, please seek counseling immediately. Im not being funny. Im not joking. Get help. Because pushing beyond what your partner is comfortable with is not okay. Ever. Now Im going to go watch funny dog videos. This rape poll makes my soul hurt.
