Im all for dealing with important issues, but I feel kind of lucky to be a part of the last generation before massive internet. I remember recording things on cassette tapes off the radio when I was small, and I remember how at the time I was only focused on a few things. I dont regret knowing more about the world or what is going on in it - I think that is more or less the zeitgeist of this era, the lack of distance, and dealing with a lot of long-term consequences that have been building up. But I feel lucky because I can still remember the transitions, and I can remember when there were just pleasant, chill 90s music on the radio like it wasnt no big deal. Like this one. I wonder if the following generations will have access to that, or understand the sort of generic hope that was 90s Americana. Millenials mostly are dealing with global recession, economic issues, job stuff, and a lot of social issues and inter-connectivity that hasnt been dealt with in this fashion before. With social media and cell phone videos. Its all part of how things go, but I think there is something to realizing how much things can change - and be changed. Its nice to know that you can take, and create, the world you want - and that a memory and a vision arent so far apart from each other.
