Im almost recovered from the NAMM show. I had an hour of my time taken away that Ill never get back, yesterday, attending something that was billed for trumpet players. Ill just say that was false advertising. Facet Mutes!! Check them out! They are the bomb. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful sound! I was pleased to see several former students come by the CarolBrass booth to see me and check out horns. I think we have a couple of converts! It was great to hang or talk with Arturo Sandoval, Bill Churchville, Jeff Bunnell, Chris Tedesco, Dan Kay and Trent Austin, and spend almost an entire day with the great Dennis Baddog and my up-and-coming superstar bud, Delbert Anderson. My favorite thing to do each year, however, is get to spend much too short a time with high school buds Jennifer Martin and Larry Meregillano (who seemed to vanish into thin air yesterday without a goodbye), Mr. Bach, who could not put down the new CarolBrass Dizzy trumpet, declaring it too much fun! while attracting a crowd. Finally, great thanks to Doug Teeter and Wely Lee from CarolBrass who were so gracious and generous and Jim Bohm, who is a bundle of positive energy, keeping everyone entertained, and buddy Tim LaMarca who seems to be the glue that holds everything together and knows everyone. Thanks for all the introductions, Tim! I will have a new flugelhorn by next Friday! Thanks, Doug!
