Im also delighted to hear that Anum and Ahad Rizvi, my 20 and 19 year old constituents - who were being held in detention because their applications for asylum in the UK had been rejected - were today released following a successful bail hearing in Birmingham. I wrote on their behalf again to the Home Office on Friday about their case and called on the Minister to exercise any discretion he may have on exceptionally compelling and compassionate grounds to ensure that they stay here. There is still a huge amount to do but I remain convinced that the family’s right to remain in the UK should be considered as one, and that Anum and Ahad should not be singled out and separated from their parents and their brothers.
