Im always in NYC on the Memorial Day weekend - its quiet and fun - and I ALWAYS have a Noshwalks then, too. This Sunday, Im leading a simply wonderful tour of Rego Park and Corona, Queens... an amazing journey across culture and cuisines. On this most memorable tour, youll feel as though youve visited several countries and continents in one day! We begin at an Uzbek bakery, visit a Persian market, make our way to the Lemon Ice King of Corona, check out the delicious tortillas of Nixtamal and end our day at an Ecuadorean eatery – a great cross section of Queens! This tour tends to be on the long side –and worth every extra minute! (PS, with time and space in our stomachs, well also stop at an old Italian bakery.) Time: 12:00 NOON Place: Meet in front of Rokhat Bakery, 65-43 Austin Street. Directions: Take the R train to 63rd Drive (sit at the front if heading to Kew Gardens), exit and continue along Queens Boulevard towards 65th Road. Turn right on 65th Road, walk four blocks to Austin Street, then turn left to the bakery. PLEASE check hopstop or mta.info to plan mass transit travel. If you drive, please note that we will conclude fairly far from where we start. Write to noshwalks@aol for advice on taking a bus back to the starting point. Remember that you will need a Metrocard or correct change ($2.50 per person in coins) to take the bus. REGISTER at noshwalks
